Sergio Tacchini started life as a professional tennis player in Italy, winning the title of Italian Champion, but he was disappointed at the lack of choice when it came to tennis wear so he started to experiment with colours and fabrics to design his own brand of stylish tennis wear which was to be called Sandys S.p.A at first, later being renamed after him to take advantage of his standing in the sports world.
His own particular brand of sportswear proved to be a huge hit with his fellow tennis players and his outfits have been worn by the likes of Pat Cash, Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe and Pete Sampras. But as the brand began to develop more general sportswear, so other sports celebrities also joined the queue to be seen wearing the Sergio Tacchini label including Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna and cricketer Ian Bell.
The company now design a range of high quality sports and casual wear for people who like to dress down in style. In menswear their Sergio Tacchini Heritage range taps into the fashion trend for original vintage styles. Hark back to the 80’s when McEnroe was all over the courts for some classic tracksuits and tennis gear but reworked to today’s standards with modern fabrics. Who knows, perhaps if Andy Murray was decked out in Sergio Tacchini he might stand a chance of winning Wimbledon!
